# Security & Hardening Report

## Overview
This document outlines the security measures and hardening steps implemented for the Adam v23.5 codebase.

## Hardening Measures

### 1. Dependency Management
- **Pinned Dependencies**: Critical dependencies like `torch`, `pika`, `redis` are explicitly managed to prevent supply chain attacks via dependency confusion.
- **Legacy Peer Deps**: Frontend build uses `--legacy-peer-deps` to resolve conflict without breaking the build, ensuring stability.

### 2. Configuration & Secrets
- **Environment Variables**: API keys (`OPENAI_API_KEY`, etc.) are loaded exclusively via `core.utils.secrets_utils.get_api_key`, preventing hardcoded secrets.
- **Graceful Degradation**: Agents like `MarketSentimentAgent` and `AgentOrchestrator` check for missing keys and degrade gracefully (logging errors instead of crashing).

### 3. Input Validation
- **Pydantic Schemas**: v23.5 introduces strict Pydantic schemas (`core.schemas.hnasp`) for agent state and configuration, preventing injection attacks via malformed payloads.
- **Agent Configuration**: `AgentOrchestrator` validates `agents.yaml` against `AgentsYamlConfig` schema before loading.

### 4. Error Handling
- **Async Safety**: `AgentBase.execute` is wrapped to ensure logic layer evaluation and error trapping.
- **Global Exception Handling**: The Orchestrator captures exceptions during agent execution to prevent system-wide crashes.

## Verified Components
- **Agent Orchestrator**: Verified to load agents correctly and handle missing agents gracefully.
- **Market Sentiment Agent**: Verified to handle missing API configs and return default scores.
- **Frontend**: React application builds successfully and passes basic rendering tests.

## Future Work
- Implement RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) more deeply in `SecurityContext`.
- Add rate limiting to API endpoints.
- Enable HTTPS for internal communication in production.
